Bethany is a small town in New Haven County, Connecticut. This little town is known for the fact that the Budweiser Clydesdale horses are cared for here so they will be ready for special events and parades. The town is only approximately 22 square miles and rural. Once upon a time was a part of Woodbridge. Bethany did not separate itself from Woodbridge until 1832, although it was settled in 1717. Today the town remains rural and remote, yet so close to urban areas that it allows for the best of both worlds.
Bethany may be found between State Route 63 and State Route 69, right between Midbury and New Haven. And, of the 160 towns and cities in Connecticut, a computer survey calculated that Bethany was the 22nd most attractive town to live in, based on a variety of factors like poverty and crime rates, high school graduates attending four year colleges, per capita income and taxes, mortality rate, and more.
Bethany Real Estate After a housing surge in 2002 with 42 housing permits issued at an average cost of $334,800, the market slowed down quite a bit. Bethany real estate has maintained a level growth rate for the past few years as demonstrated by the building permits issued each year after 2002. In 2003 there were 35 housing permits issued at an average price of $320,800. The year 2004 saw 30 single family homes at an average price of $295,500. These numbers stayed the same for 2005 as well. As you can see, Bethany real estate has decreased in average price over the last few years so building in Bethany is better done sooner rather than later while prices are lower.
